Why the Hindu Marriage Act covers both
Section 2 of the Hindu Marriage Act applies it to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Sikhs. So a Hindu–Sikh couple can marry with Hindu rites or with Anand Karaj, and register the marriage under section 8 of the Act.
Anand Karaj and the Anand Marriage Act
The Anand Marriage Act, 1909, amended in 2012, recognises Anand Karaj and allows states to make rules for registering such marriages. Some states, including Delhi, have notified rules. Where you register depends on current state rules, so check before applying.
Special Marriage Act as an alternative
A couple may still choose a civil marriage under the Special Marriage Act, or register a religious marriage under section 15. Each choice has consequences for succession and divorce law.
