If families object
Adults have a constitutional right to marry a partner of their choice. The Supreme Court in Lata Singh v. State of U.P. (2006) and Shakti Vahini v. Union of India (2018) directed authorities to protect such couples. If you face threats, protection can be sought from the police and, where needed, the High Court.
